About Hocking College Equestrian Team

The Hocking College Western Equestrian Team was formed in 2018 and is affiliated with the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Zone 6, Region 2. The team currently competes in the Western Disciplines of Horsemanship and Reining. Coach Arianna Mathias leads the team which will compete in eight competitions on four dates; two in the fall and two more in the spring. 

No prior show experience is required and all levels of riders and experience are welcome. Divisions range from Beginner Walk Trot through Open. Horse ownership is not required.

Arianna Mathias is a lifelong equestrian with more than 32 years of experience in the equine industry. A graduate of Ohio University, Mathias is a member of the United States Equestrian Federation, United States Hunter Jumper Association and the United States Dressage Federation. She's a graduate of the United States Pony Club.

Mathias has coached at the collegiate level for both Hocking College and Ohio University IHSA. She's also involved with the Interscholastic Equestrian Association as a coach for youth equestrians. She and her husband run a successful lesson and training business educating equestrians in all aspects of riding, training and clinics.
